A spectators guide to surfing is a selection of photos and text which are put together in a zine, in the style of a skate magazine to bring fun to the images. The skate and surf culture are similar in certain ways, which is why designs and layouts work well together.
What is a surfer? Often people assume that a surfer is an individual who is sun-kissed, laid back, with an adventurous soul. There is a sense of freedom, combining rebellion and passion, creating this stereotype around surf culture that they defy societal norms, but what is a surfer to you? Is it someone young? Free? What do they look like?
This zine is created from my point of view as a spectator watching surfing, what I think surfing looks like and what its all about.
